Know exactly what to expect — day by day — so there are no surprises when your crew shows up.
🚛 Day 1
What to Expect: A heavy-duty flatbed truck will arrive to drop off your new underlayment, flashing, and replacement tiles or shingles. The materials will be staged on your driveway and possibly on the roof itself.
Your Action: Park all vehicles on the street before Day 1. Your driveway must remain completely clear for delivery trucks and safe material staging. You do not need to be home for delivery.
🔨 Day 2
What to Expect: This is the loudest day of construction. The crew will strip your roof down to the bare wood deck, inspect the plywood for hidden water damage, and immediately lay down high-grade waterproof underlayment to seal the house.
If any plywood decking is found to be rotted or compromised from years of moisture, the crew will replace those sections before sealing. Your contractor will walk you through anything they find.
Your Action: Keep pets indoors — the noise and foot traffic can be stressful for animals. Construction typically begins around 6:00 AM to beat the intense Arizona heat. You don't need to be home, but be available by phone.
🏠 Day 3
What to Expect: The crew locks the tiles securely into place and finishes the valley flashing and ridge caps. Once the roof is completely sealed, they perform a thorough ground sweep using heavy-duty magnetic rollers to clear your yard and driveway of any stray construction nails.
Your contractor will do a final walkthrough with you (or send photos if you're not home) and review the completed work before the crew leaves.
Your Action: Walk the yard yourself after the crew leaves. Run a barefoot check of the grass nearest the house — magnetic rollers catch most nails but a second pass never hurts, especially if you have children or pets.
